Associate Narrative Director/Narrative Director

What we are looking for

We are looking for an Associate Narrative Director/Narrative Director to join the directors group working with Exoborne. This role will be a balance between safeguarding narrative strategy and IP vision, as well as, working closely with the narrative team on a tactical and day to day basis, to ensure that a solid narrative and lore foundation is laid out for Exoborne. We need you to be part of developing a story, world, and content that reinforces the IP and strengthens the overall player experience.

This role reports to the Experience Director for people and delivery matters and will be part of the creative directors group. As such, the person will work collaboratively to ensure we deliver narratively interwoven experiences that fit our IP, using modern, iterative and player-focused design and product practices.

You will own and drive the narrative strategy and vision with the narrative team ensuring that it fits within the overall game vision. You will ensure that the strategy can serve Exoborne for many years to come in its live phase. You will also serve as a link to teams, leads and feature owners that need support related to this area.

We believe you are passionate about telling stories, narrative, lore and IP building, as well as innovative and iterative ways of working in delivering this experience to our players.

You are highly communicative and driven, with a structured approach to goals, strategy, and delivery.

• Direct the narrative effort and its implementation in the game.

• Own and drive the narrative strategy and vision.

• Collaborate closely with other directors to develop the IP and turn it into a solid foundation for many years of live service story telling.

• Share insights and updates from your area towards the wider directors’ group and stakeholders.

• Act as an evangelist for our world and lore within the studio and to our external partners.

• Ensure the final, high-quality delivery of all aspects of narrative into the game.

• You have experience working with narrative direction, design and writing on AAA games.

• You have a background of developing comprehensive and believable worlds that appeal to a broad range of audiences.

• You have proven capabilities as a writer, and an eye for cinematic delivery and timing.

• You are eager to explore the full potential of emergent, player-based storytelling in a multiplayer PvPvE setting.

• You have experience with environmental and non-linear storytelling, and a desire to facilitate organic player stories.

• You have a keen awareness of current entertainment trends and relevant topics.

• You have a passion and broad familiarity with science-fiction and/or post-apocalyptic settings.

• Experience in narrative delivery within shooters or extraction shooters.

• Experience telling stories through multiple narrative vehicles.

• Working with narrative in live products or games and agile deliveries.

• Experience working with Unreal.

• Experience in insights and data informed or driven design and delivery.

• Having worked with setting and executing on strategy and communicating visions. Either for products, teams, or both.

• Experience in public speaking engagements.

• Previous product and/or game launches.
